I don't feel as strongly about it as TN does, but I did recall some mod remake/redesign attempts back when. But it was TrueNeutral's post about the people behind the current KS that had me thinking. That being said, I really hope now, with comsumer interaction devs could find a solution to this problems.Īs someone who is considering backing, i'm interested in why you think that - would you mind elaborating? Thanks Don't get me wrong, I'll probably buy it when/if it's finished, unless reviews (pro and user) lambast it. In first DK you just walled your dingeon and leveled till 10. Fighting pit was a bad solution IMO, but limiting creature leveling - again- step in right directions. Took a while for imps to dig and even longer if enemy emps were counterfortifying.

Walls were diggable in DK2 by default as far as i remember. Getting same rooms every time was boring rather than time crunching IMO. that was not ideal, but step in right direction.

They are on their own, as EA have rights on Dungeon Keeper franchise. I think I only got thru DK2 campaign twice. Which some might consider a good thing these days.īut I definitely prefer/enjoyed DK1/Deeper Dungeons. It is not DK3, however, and last I knew, Peter M. After a bit of research (including the demo) I'm less convinced it'll be as awesome as it sounds, but it could be good. I think we discussed this Kickstarter thread a bit in the Kickstarter thread, a while back. Amusing designs could be made.īut I definitely prefer/enjoyed DK1/Deeper Dungeons. It was fun to mess around there, because rooms didn't have to be square anymore. that all said, what I enjoyed about DK2 was the pet dungeons. They could have made it take a lot longer to train to level 8 or 10 in a training room, instead of creating an irritating combat-room mechanic that was inefficient, took up nearly all your attention, especially if you were using skeletons and/or vampires (hard to multi-task around your dungeon), was dependent on semi-glitchy imps dragging people back to their lair etc. They were originally diggable in single-player, which was annoying because it took no time at all for them to do so. Walls were not impenetrable in DK2 until a later patch, where in MP/skirmish where you could choose it via a checkbox. researching in every level in DK1 made the time crunch aspect more interesting, imo The stun mechanic was irritating and didn't even solve the issue because all you had to do was drop them a bit farther away, instead. they could have made it so you couldn't drop so many minions at a time or some other solution. I prefer challenge and hardships to overcome) Yes, devs took away that things that made your army unstoppable, but I don't want to play the game where I am unstoppable. Gems income were significantly reduced. You could no longer train your creatures to 10 lvl in training room. The only way to breach through the walls were Tremor spell In DK1 you had to research every room on every new level. Lava was the only thing to seprate levels and add strategic element to the maps. Drop n+1 minions that instantly go to the fight, overwhelming even strongest opponents in a second. Because in DK1 you were practically invincible and invasions easily beatable. These little mechanical changes probably turned me away. I think DS2 also made it that when you pick up a handfull of minions to drop them onto an invading force that they would be stunned for a few seconds. I remember quitting when I had to possess a skeleton to be able to walk through some lava or something like that. I played the wheels off DK1 but for whatever reason couold never get into DK2. Thats a good question that I dont have an answer I can pinpoint.
